The
Betty Anne Laue/ IFOPA Resource Center
The
Betty Anne Laue/IFOPA Resource Center was named in memory
of a dear friend of the FOP community and former board member,
Betty Anne Laue. Providing educational resources about FOP
was Betty's passion and the Resource Center is a central clearinghouse
for information on FOP. It offers scientific and medical articles,
interesting stories on FOP members and fundraisers, videos
in several languages, and more. Most of the materials are
supplied free of charge. There is a nominal fee for the videos
and the prices are indicated on the index.
To
request materials, please contact the:
IFOPA
P.O. Box 196217
Winter Springs, FL 32719-6217

All
orders must be pre-paid.
Thank you for your interest in
learning about FOP. The more people that know about it, the
fewer misdiagnosis and unnecessary trauma there will be.

For
FOP families, the best place to begin is What is FOP? A guidebook
for Families first published in 1995 in conjunction with
the Second International Symposium on FOP. This second edition is
a comprehensive look at FOP, answering many questions commonly asked
of families and medical professionals. The Guidebook contains scientific
articles by Dr. Fred Kaplan and others regarding research and treatment
options. There are also articles by parents of afflicted children
and adults with FOP offering insights into the condition. What
is FOP? Questions and Answers for the Children is a separate
guidebook written for an audience of children ages 8-12, explaining
FOP in easy-to-follow language.
If
you have a specific topic that you want to explore via the Resource
Center, such as case studies, radiology, research, or if you are
interested in obtaining many items, we can put together a special
package for you. This will save time (by eliminating the copying
of information which you do not need) as well as money. Please contact
the IFOPA Office at together@ifopa.org for assistance in designing the best package to fit your individual needs.

MUSIC
"A prayer for Whitney," is a beautiful song sung by Kassy Ciasulli and Salvatore Arpino. The magical words and music were written by Carol Bayer Sager and David Foster. Kassy used to babysit for Whitney Weldon, a girl with FOP. Her goal now "is to help get her the medical support needed to insure her dreams come true." A CD of the song, generously produced by Kevin Ferd, is available through the Betty Anne Laue/IFOPA Resource Center with a donation of $10 or more, plus $2 shipping and handling. The CD makes a wonderful favor or gift at a luncheon fundraiser, etc. To order the CD or for more information email the IFOPA office at together@ifopa.org.
